Education | BS Civil Engineering - Michigan State University

Ryan joined Talisman in August as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager. With a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, Ryan brings nearly a decade of experience from a Chicago-based engineering firm. There, he focused on utility design, managing the installation of underground transmission power systems and overseeing the construction of several miles of ductbank throughout Chicago and its suburbs.

An outdoor enthusiast, Ryan enjoys skiing in the winter and has recently discovered a passion for mountain biking in the summer. His favorite food is al pastor tacos, but he’s an avid cook who loves trying new cuisines. Drawn to Talisman’s local high-profile projects, Ryan is eager to contribute to community improvements that have a tangible impact on his surroundings.

Ryan believes in keeping work balanced, having received the advice, “Don’t take work too seriously.” He’s adventurous, having canoed across Michigan and backpacked through South America, including visiting Machu Picchu and attending the World Cup in Brazil. His favorite place he’s visited is Kodiak Island, Alaska.

In the event of a zombie apocalypse, Ryan would grab a survey rod, fire extinguisher, and a bottle of champagne. He would love to live in the 1990s again, and his go-to karaoke song is “Bohemian Rhapsody,” despite once being booed off stage by his grandmother. The last book he read and loved was Endurance, the story of a shipwrecked crew surviving in Antarctica. If he could pick up any skill instantly, it would be photography, and if he had to eat one meal every day, it would be a breakfast sandwich from Central 9th Market.
