Alan W. Layton College of Civil and Environmental Engineering Building

Salt Lake City, Utah

A new and improved learning space for U of U Civil Engineering students.

TCC is thrilled to announce the successful completion of comprehensive site and drainage improvements to this building at the University of Utah, formerly known as HEDCO. In collaboration with Studio LP and the University, the project focused on optimizing site grading and hardscape design for future building access, implementing a compliant fire lane, creating an efficient aggregate storage bin, and upgrading the existing drainage system. The project was executed in a phased approach, starting with schematic designs and culminating in construction documents.

The project was bid out in August 2021 and construction commenced in early September 2021, concluding on schedule. Throughout the project, TCC provided robust construction administration support, including site visits and coordination meetings. The successful completion of this project serves as a testament to the power of collaborative engineering—going beyond mere construction to enhance the educational environment, prioritize safety, and improve sustainability.
