Roadway Safety Analysis makes dangerous road safer.

Talisman Civil Consultants was selected in the Spring 2018 to conduct a safety improvement study for the 5.5-mile North Ogden Divide roadway. The curvy, mountainous terrain of this roadway connects the communities of North Ogden and Liberty, Utah, with an estimated 2,000 vehicles passing through the roadway each day. The existing roadway has provided significant challenges to travelers in the area, specifically due to tight curves, falling rocks, and steep catch slopes.

TCC was contracted to survey the roadway corridor and 50 feet on each side, then prepare an analysis of dangerous features along the roadway with a conceptual design for improvements to make the roadway safer for future users. That study was released in 2019, recommending a total of $6.82 million in improvements. The first phase of those improvements totaled $1.98 million of investment by Weber County. Among the elements included in the current scope are: the addition of storm drain crossings spanning the road, the installation of catch basins to gather water, the installation of retaining walls, and road resurfacing in various roadway sections.
